Blackjack, Card Games & Roulette
(RNG Games)
Generally speaking, if you want the standard mult-deck blackjack and European or American (Double Zero)
roulette then pretty much every casino will offer these and by and large there isn't much between them. If
however you like the plentiful variants of either game then the "
download casinos" from Microgaming and
Playtech
win hands-down. Microgaming has the largest range but takes longer to install but on either platform
you can play during the install.
Blackjack, Baccarat and Roulette
(Live Dealer Games)
Although
Microgaming casinos have Live Dealer modules
which are perfectly OK for a lot of players, in general the best live casino
offerings come from
the more dedicated brands. If you aren't too bothered about chatting then most
live dealer products will be reasonable but if a chin-wag is what you are after, check out the
our
Genting Casino Review and our
Leo Vegas Casino Review
as all my research sugegst that those plays with live dealers regularly (
nothing dodgy about that, right?!)
constantly recommend these two UK brands.
Video Poker
Once upon a time I would have recommended Cryptologic software for this but since they went the
no-download route, the video poker has gotten distinctly average. If you just want
single-hand games
then
Mr Green has all the
IGT Game King video poker games but conversely, not much in the way of decent
multi-hand games. For those, easily the best option are the
Microgaming casinos - their download
casinos have the largest choice (lots of variations) but there Instant Play
no-downoad option also
has a lot of them without the need to wait for the install.
Slots
Here's where it gets interesting. If you want land-based slot machines like those from
IGT,
WMS,
Novomatic
or
Aristocrat then you want some of the smaller dedicated providers. If you aren't so
bothered about those but want
lots of choice then Microgaming, Playtech and Net Entertainment provide the
best slots in my opinion (and I play a *lot* of slots!).
If you are
playing primarily for entertainment then Net Entertainment's slots are no-download and
good eye candy but the wins tend to be modest on most games. Microgaming casinos also provide a
number of these low volatility games - in fact they have some
100% slot games in the download casinos
now (and over 200 in the no-download) which on he one hand is good for choice but, on the other,
means a lot of research is needed to find the games you like. I play there no-download casino as
it's easier to find the games I like. Just!
For
higher volatility games and some excellent Marvel-themed slots,
Playtech casinos
are the pick. I love their games on the whole and while the choice is considerably less than Microgaming, it's easier
to find games you like. Playtech are known to produce some volatile games though so make sure you know
your game before you go too mmad. The
Slotjunkies website has
information on volatilty for a lot of these games along with videos of the features.
Keno
All the providers have Keno games and there isn't a whole lot to choose between them but if like me
you like "
turbo" keno, my picks would be
Bonus Keno on Net Entertainment's
software or
King Keno, found at a few of the IGT licencees. Playtech's Keno is pretty decent
too for that matter. Microgaming's version never cut it for me but it is a bit more whimsical and would
probably suit the casual player looking for a bit more of a fun experience.
Mobile Casino Games
As I write this article in October 2013, the mobile casino games sector is in it's infancy. You can
play
Blackjack and Roulette, a number of
slots and scratch cards on mobile but the choice is small still.
The games are very good though - if you play on a tablet like an iPad or Nexus for example but less
impressive on smartphone screens for obvious reasons. You could do worse than check out
our top mobile casino that I've come up with, many of which I've played...
most games pretty much manage to replicate the games you see on bigger screens very well in HTML5.
